I see lots of people here are either interested in, or currently selling "information" products, such as writing. So now I'm wondering if anyone is making a living (or at least part of one) selling physical product that they produce.

For example, my wife's business is designing and producing sewing patterns. She's got one line currently available and is wrapping up a second. And to supplement my web development and system administration work, I'm in the early stages of a specialty food product I'll be selling via the web and hopefully to retailers (no web site yet but stay tuned).

Who else is doing stuff like this? How are you handling things like production, inventory, and order fulfillment? Is this your primary source of income or a secondary revenue stream?Web Consulting :: Classic Cocktails

I personally am not selling anything (yet) but I know there are people out there who are selling physical products to make a living.

My girlfriend does design and craft work and sells it via an etsy site, but that is entirely a second source of income. She is mostly just doing it because she enjoys it.

I really would also be interested in hearing from someone who has had success with either informational or physical products and how they have handled it. Anyone out there who has experienced this?Becoming Location Independent is easier than you think...

Hey, I've shot an email to Dan Andrews of Lifestyle Business Podcast (http://www.lifestyle-business-podcast.com) because his podcasts are along the same lines. Hopefully he swings by to add his two cents.Caron FromWhoatoGo

Hi, Dan is swamped with the beginnings of his new tropical mba program (tropicalmba.com) but he has sent me an invitation to extend to those interested:

"In general I make my living selling hard goods but since I'm pretty maxed out for the next 2 weeks and can't follow up I'd rather use email and specific questions than the forum. I also don't openly share business information in text online because I see posting stuff about it as a liability for potential clients, buyers, etc. Anybody on the forum is welcome to arrange a Skype chat with me too, my address is Dan.Andrews5. They'll have to email me first since I only sign on for appointments, generally. Hope that can help some people!"

Dan can be emailed directly at: dan@lifestylebusinesspodcast.com. I would recommend you listen to the podcasts first as they give an outline of information, but again he's not really specific, which it seems we need. I think it would benefit us all to learn as you learn Kenn, it's certainly something I intend to document as I go along, looking forward to your updates!Caron FromWhoatoGo

I know one of our co-hosts J.D. has recently taken a foray into the world of information products. Hope to hear something about the experience on WSR as he's always been quite candid about success/failure and his experiences - a trait that I find extremely valuable.- Shaun

I mainly sell non-physical web products, but a friend and I have been working the last couple weeks to produce a line of clothing for yoga and meditation practitioners (dharmafied.com). One thing I am noticing is that there is alot more leg work and detail going into producing and selling a physical product, especially since I want to still keep it physically out of my hands.

Its interesting going back and looking at this post, as Caron posted about the Tropical MBA last November. Well that is what I've been doing here in Thailand, and to say I've learned a lot would be a bit of an understatement. Let me know if you guys have any questions on what that is all about, or living/working in Thailand.Becoming Location Independent is easier than you think...

Hey Sean, I'm definitely interested in what your role is with the Tropical MBA. What sort of stuff are you working on and how does it all fit into the physical product business model?- Shaun
